Circo

Went to this restaurant with a friend when we were visitng Liverpool for a weekend. We were staying in the Albert Dock area and upon looking at various menus in windows, Circo seemed to have the best variation and good prices.
When we entered we were a bit baffled by the circus/clown/uniforms etc, but we figured it was something different and fun... We asked for a table for 2 and was told to take a seat in the bar and they would come and get us when the table was ready, so we had a drink in the bar and then our waitress came and took us to our table.
We had the Brie and peanut chicken skewers for starter, they were both very well presented. We both had the the prawn and scallop linguine and it was very nice and good value for money (£12), the starters were also nice, I would not fault the food or the price.
A guy waiter came to take our drinks order, we asked if there was a cocktail menu and he said if we say what we like they make them up on the spot as such, so we told him our cocktail "style" and off he went. The cocktails came back and looked lovely, but they tasted awful!! Had we of been on a mad night out looking to get totally drunk and dance the night away they may of hit the spot, but we were out on a Monday night for dinner, the cocktails were FAR FAR too strong for a dinner cocktail, and thats coming from a girl who loves nothing better than a shot of Sambuca!
When the bill came we told the waiter we didnt want to pay for the cocktails as they were not nice and we hadnt even drunk them, they were very apologetic and before offering to make us another on the house, they removed the cocktails from our bill.
Overall I would go back, it wasnt the best place I have ever been, but it was refreshingly different.
Their actual website advertises it as "enter the freak show" - guess thats right in a good and light hearted sence

Myself and 3 friends went to Circo on Saturday. The staff were quite attentive once we went and asked them if there was waiter service. Unfortunately this is all I can say positive for the visit.
We ordered drinks which all came in filthy glasses, the wine glasses had some yellow sticky substance underneath and looked like they had never seen a dishwasher.
The food once ordered took 45 minutes to appear, understandable if busy but there were very few customers and the staff outnumbered these. All we had ordered were 2 burgers and 2 cold sandwiches which were all very uninspiring. the sandwiches appeared to be made with a jar of sandwich filler and were no way value for money. The burgers were tasteless and again certainly not worth the £9 charged.
Of course this was only the daytime menu but it certainly not persuade me to dine here of an evening. Altogether a thoroughly disappointing visit.
