Just had quick business lunch at the Olive Press - absolutely gorgeous! Friend had the smoked salmon salad which she said was lovely, really tasty. I had the burger on foccacia bread & I'm still mmmmming. It was really great - chips were good too! Special mention to the Olive Press dining club which meant we got 40% off the bill too!

After a fantastic day with my family sledging on a snow covered camp hill in Woolton. We decided to visit The Olive Press on Castle St, Liverpool. To cut a long story short my daughters opted for the childrens menu, which would prove to be the best choice of the evening, my wife chose from the christmas fixed menu which in hindsight I should have also. Instead I chose from the main menu, grilled king prawns which came to our table barely warm, I could cope with that. My main course was just a simple burger, easy to do? Not so !!
The first effort came as an inedible, overworked rubbery and shrunken piece of protein. When sent it back the chef gave the lame excuse that because it was minced beef it had to be very well done, I replied to this that Macdonalds burgers cost 99p and they seem to get it right. The chef didn't seem be happy with me sending back my food and proceeded to argue his point with the head waiter surrounded by his kitchen brigade all of who where no older than 17,who felt the need to stare over at the table who had the temerity to send back burnt food (one of the cons of having an open kitchen the customers can see into!)
After another 10mins wait by this time my family had all finished my replacement arrived, you guessed it RAW!! I can only assume by the kitchen staffs attitude that they were unimpressed that I would send back food to their kitchen.
The head waiter was very apologetic and asked me to choose something else, by this time the evening was ruined by arrogant chef and his inexperienced kitchen staff.
If after reading this you still feel the need to visit the olive press, steer clear of the burgers, save your £12.50 yes £12.50! And get a 99p Macdonalds burger instead!!

My daughter and i visited the Olive Press in Liverpool on Saturday 19th September. We had a really lovely dining experience. The atmosphere was ideal, and the food perfect and hot!. The staff were very friendly and the service was 10 out of 10. Another point to make was that the surroundings were spotless (including the toilets!).
We opted for the childrens make a pizza offer and the main course and drink for £7.60, both excellent choices! We have already put a booking in for another visit as my daughter now wants to eat there for her forthcoming birthday lunch!
